Volunteer — see movies for free!
Do you like to watch great films? Do you want to be part of an amazing Jewish cultural experience? Then you need to volunteer to help during the Minneapolis Jewish Film Festival, April 8-18, 2010. Films to be shown at various venues in the area. Volunteers will serve as ushers or help with ticket sales. The time requirement is 1 hour prior to the start of each film and through the end of the film. You’ll help to pass out surveys at the end of each film. Volunteers will get to see the movie for no charge. If they help at three movies they will get a pass for another movie of their choice.

MINNEAPOLIS JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL
seeks House Manager Intern
December 15 – April 25, 2010
December/January/February – 10 hours / week
March – 20-30 hours / week
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
The House Manager Intern will assist with logistics of coordinating film festival in the months prior to event. Will oversee Film Festival operations during festival at each venue: recruit, train, and supervise volunteers; manage crowds/lines; maintain communication with the film technicians and Box Office employees regarding film start-time; assist Film Festival Director with receptions, special events, and post-film discussions and panels; and manage logistics between films as needed (i.e. occasional transportation of VIPs, films, etc.).
JOB DUTIES
December
- Write film descriptions for posting on website and program book. Collect reviews, trailers, awards, etc. for the films and post them online
- Data entry for film library
- Get screeners to film makers and distributors
- Make DVD of film trailers to include inmedia kits
January/February
- Administrative Assist to Film Festival Director (data entry, marketing, filing, occasional errands or outreach phone calls)
- Recruit, schedule, and maintain up-to-date list of Film Festival volunteers (including back-up/wait-list volunteers)
- Assist Film Festival Director in planning the arrival, safety, transportation, and departure of each film
- Work with Box Office staff to schedule all Box Office shifts for Festival
April 8-18, 2010 – Film Festival
- On-site House Manager for all films
- Train and supervise film volunteers (ushers, ticket-takers, post-film surveys)
- Maintain crowd control
- Field questions from patrons
- Assist with receptions, guest speakers, and other special events as needed
- Oversee transportation of films back to the JCC or next destination
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge and experience with Front-of-House for theatre and/or film
• Flexible schedule, with the ability to respond quickly to requests and inquiries.
• Love of theater/performance/film/art and community building.
*Valid driver’s license and access to car during festival preferred.
Internship provides excellent work experience, school credit may also be arranged, and, if deserved, a letter of recommendation upon completion of the internship.
